Rights & Responsibilities

The rights and responsibilities of membership are established in Equity’s Constitution & Bylaws. Additionally, the objectives of the Association are detailed in the Organizational Results and Policies, which are determined by Equity Council.

Members have a right to:

Have access to work opportunities
Work on contracts that set fair wages and working conditions
Safe and respectful workplaces
Administrative support while on contract
Participate in the negotiation and ratification process of collective agreements that they have recent experience working under
An insurance plan
A Registered Retirement Savings Plan
Advocacy in support of improving members’ professional lives
Professional development support, provided through Equity’s online workshops and seminars
Information about Equity and its Council’s work
Access to discounts through the Member Advantage Program
An professional level of Service Commitments

Members have a responsibility to:

Act in a manner that meets Equity’s Standard of Professional Conduct
Pay basic dues of $200 (billed at $100 twice per year)
Pay working dues of 2.25% while on contract
Work only on an Equity contract while in Equity’s jurisdiction
Open an RRSP account with Canada Life
Keep up to date contact information on file with Equity and agree to receive essential information from the Association
