Equity’s reciprocal agreements establish terms between Equity and other performance unions for recognizing the professional standing of members across associations.
In all instances, a member of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association must be in good standing to take advantage of a reciprocal agreement with another association. Similarly, a member of another association must be in good standing with their current association to take advantage of a reciprocal agreement with Equity.
Reciprocal Agreements
Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA)
Members of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association may join the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA or UBCP/ACTRA) as a full member with any contract guaranteeing minimum fees under ACTRA’s jurisdiction. A $475 reduction in the initiation fee will be applied when joining.
The same is true of ACTRA members wishing to join Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
Actors’ Equity Association (AEA)
Members of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association are required to join Actors’ Equity Association when working under AEA’s jurisdiction in the United States. The initiation fee payable to AEA is reduced (up to 50%) by the amount the member paid in initiation fees to Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
Members of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association on touring productions in the U.S. are not required to join AEA.
The same is true of AEA members working in the jurisdiction of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
Union des Artistes (UDA)
Membership in Canadian Actors’ Equity Association is recognized as qualification for being hired in Union des Artistes’ jurisdiction.
Canadian Actors’ Equity Association members can accept up to 3 UDA contracts without having to pay dues or permit fees.
The same is true of UDA members working in the jurisdiction of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
